Kim's Approach
As individuals, most of us find our identity by what we do — our work lives. But if we base our life direction, passion, contentment and happiness based on that identity, we will eventually end up feeling utterly unfulfilled at best and devastated at worst. Most companies, organizations and churches suffer from the same fundamental issue, making decisions and then communicating based on what services they offer or what they produce. Whether you're an individual trying to impact your family or a business working to reach millions of consumers, people respond the most to authentic personalities who clearly stand for something above all else. What's more, each day you are telling a story, whether you know it or not. Your story may be clear, confusing, compelling, or even completely dull. You, your brand, and what you do are all intricately connected, and until your story radiates the real, authentic you, it will never be the story you really want to tell or what your audiences want to hear. In fact, if you are not intentional about the story you want to radiate, then people will simply fill in the gaps with their own stories and assumptions. It's just the way our minds work. We aren't comfortable with gaps. We feel anxious about the unknown. Through the years, I've come to realize that so much of success in life (however you personally define success) comes down to being 100% true to a calling that's authentic to the core. So now, I'm focused on my calling, which is being a storyteller and helping others to discover, differentiate, develop and deliver on their core callings. Storytelling comes in many forms, but the ones I love the most are writing, speaking, teaching, and video productions. My portfolio page has a sampling of some of my experience in these areas, including speaking engagements. As a discipleship ministry team leader at my church, I regularly teach classes on spiritual growth. Writing has and always will be my first love. Currently, I am developing my first novel (more details coming soon!) and blogging here on the site. You can read more about my professional background on my LinkedIn page. |
